citizenM London Bankside Hotel

citizenM London Bankside Hotel

If you love design and a good old quote then CitizenM Hotel is the perfect hotel for you to stay at when you’re visiting London. Located in Southbank, it’s in the perfect location if you fancy a bit of sight seeing as it’s literally around the corner from some of the city’s famous landmarks like, London Bridge, Big Ben and even the Tate museum. It’s about a fifteen minute walk from London Waterloo station and the same distance from London Bridge station, which is nice as you get to experience all the scenery and shops along the way.

Now where do I start with this uber trendy hotel?!

Firstly you are greeted by what they call the hotel Ambassadors, kind of like the people who are at front desk in a regular hotel but in a more casual way, who help you check in at the self service check in kiosks. I choose the Courtyard view, with the advise of the Ambassador as he said it would be quieter and he was right, which shows the patio area of the hotel which is beautifully featured in the middle of the hotel. You are also given free drinks vouchers to use at the bar which is open twenty hours.

Checkin complete. I headed up to my room which was situated on the fourth floor, admiring all the amazing books, statues, art and quotes that were placed all over the hotel.

Boy was I impressed or what! For a room that wasn’t necessarily very big, it was very cosy and accommodating – just what I was looking for. Everything in the room was within arms each and my favourite feature was a tablet in the room that controlled the blinds, lighting and TV. Nifty or what!

The TV in the room was jam packed full of movies. In two days I watched four films which I had never heard of (and I’m a cinema junkie) and probably wouldn’t have picked to watch myself but, they were all really good! First was Jeff Who Lives At Home starring Jason Segal and Ed Helms and Wanderlust starring Justin Theroux and Jennifer Aniston. On the second day I watched Savages starring Blake Lively, it was a bit strange but still worth a watch and then Endless Love which was a proper chic flick.

I loved everything about this hotel, the location, the room and the 24 hour food and bar service. The quote on top of my room door, and the library/bookstore in the lobby by the fire, were  just a few of the nice touches in the hotel.

I’m not ashamed to say that in two days I hardly even left my room, unless I wanted to pop over the road to get some food or from the bar/cafe downstairs in the hotel. It’s definitely one of those hotels that you want to just chill in and explore!
